Puschies – Our guide to the first steps
Jumping, climbing, walking barefoot – little feet want to explore the world through play and need the perfect support to do it!
What are barefoot shoes?
Children love to romp around outdoors, play and explore the world around them with all their senses. Walking barefoot is an important part of a child's development. Barefoot shoes for children support this natural development process by simulating barefoot walking while still offering reliable protection from sharp stones, rough ground and other everyday hazards. Unlike conventional children's shoes, which are often stiff and restrictive, barefoot shoes with their ultra-thin sole let little feet feel the ground almost directly, which is essential for strengthening the foot muscles and ligaments. This way they encourage a healthy gait and strong foot muscles that accompany children on every one of their small big adventures.
Why we swear by the Puschies barefoot concept
Our feet carry us for a lifetime. Many adults struggle with foot misalignments and the resulting posture problems or back pain – problems that can often be traced back to the wrong shoes in childhood. At Puschies, we have made it our mission to do better right from the start! We believe: we should all walk barefoot much more often! With our barefoot shoes, we want not only to support the natural development and health of children's feet, but also to raise awareness of the benefits of natural, healthy movement. Our ergonomic concept relies on a minimal sole and plenty of room for the toes. This way our shoes offer not only maximum freedom of movement and flexibility, but also lots of fun. Thanks to our special concept, every step becomes a little adventure – safe and healthy. Our barefoot shoes come in a variety of bright colours and designs that children love and parents appreciate, because they are versatile and easy to care for.
What are the benefits of barefoot shoes?
Walking barefoot is the most natural thing in the world, and kids love it. Our Puschies simulate this barefoot feeling without compromising on protection. With their minimalist structure, they give children a great way to feel the world directly under their feet – this strengthens the muscles and supports optimal foot development. Plus, they are lightweight and durable – the perfect basis for healthy growth. So barefoot shoes are an excellent choice for children's development and their everyday adventures.
How tight should barefoot shoes be?
Barefoot shoes should be neither too tight nor too loose. They need to leave enough room for the toes to move, yet sit securely on the foot so they don't slip. It's best to measure your child's feet in the afternoon, when they are at their largest, and use our Puschies size chart to find the perfect fit.
Should you wear socks with barefoot shoes?
Whether your child should wear socks in barefoot shoes depends entirely on your personal preference. Socks can slightly dampen the direct feel of the ground, but they also have benefits such as absorbing moisture and protecting against the cold. Just give it a try and find out what works best!

FAQ – Frequently asked questions:
Can the shoes also be worn at/in the water on a pebble beach?
Yes, thanks to the water-repellent, breathable fabric and the protective yet flexible sole, they are ideally suited for it.
Why should my child wear barefoot shoes?
Barefoot shoes offer maximum freedom of movement, which supports your child's natural gait and foot health. In addition,
barefoot shoes have a wider toe box compared to conventional shoes.
This gives your child's foot enough room to continue developing naturally.
How do I care for the barefoot shoes properly?
All Puschies models can be washed in a laundry bag at 30 degrees on a gentle cycle. For cleaning, however, we recommend gently wiping dirty spots with a damp cloth without using any detergents. The insoles are generally not suitable for machine washing, as they can fray quickly. We recommend washing the insole separately by hand.

Which materials does Puschies use for the barefoot shoes?
Our barefoot shoes have a sole made of thermoplastic rubber (TPR).
With good slip resistance, low abrasion and excellent grip. The upper is made of breathable, waterproof fabric (organic cotton). They are easy to care for – simply wash at 30°C in the washing machine and let them air dry. Natural fibres do not yet meet our high standards, but we are constantly researching.
Note: To allow a natural barefoot feel, this model has a thin, water-friendly upper and breathing holes in the sole. Our barefoot shoes are waterproof, but not water-repellent, to ensure good ventilation and a pleasant foot climate.
